New owners Brian and Jennifer Huskey have put a leather jacket on the former B. Matthew’s Bakery and given it a ’68 comeback special. The recently re-christened b. Matthews Eatery boasts retro-inspired interiors, a menu loaded with fresh, local ingredients. The best part? This once-popular lunch spot now serves a dinner with big portions and bigger flavors. Dishes like the Grilled 12oz. N.Y. Strip Steak, served with Plumfield Plantation stone ground grits, a cabernet reduction and a whole tempura-fried green onion smack dab in the middle. Talking with Crumpton and Brian Huskey, I can smell success, white truffle oil and the realization that good guys DO finish first.
